College Administrators, Educators, and Coaches Join Forces with the Distilled Spirits Industry to Launch New Million Dollar-Plus Program to Help Stop the Misuse of Alcohol on College Campuses

A comprehensive CD program set on a "virtual campus," using sony game technology, interactive video scenarios, and 3d animation to target at-risk populations of the student body: freshmen, greeks, student-athletes, and judicial policy offenders. |

Alcohol 101 plus also includes a "Virtual Bar," where a user can "virtually" drink and learn about how alcohol affects their individual blood alcohol concentration and how long it takes for their bac to return to zero; an interactive game developed by SONY, b4udrink, which tests a user's knowledge about alcohol; and, a "Virtual Brain," which conveys information about how alcohol affects the brain. |

Research shows that alcohol, even small amounts, affects the ability of college students to learn and remember new information. |

Eighty percent of freshmen report they have used alcohol with in the past year. On average, they report consuming nearly six drinks per week. |

In 2000, alcohol-related fatality rates were nearly twice as large for 18-, 19-, and 20-year olds as for people aged 21 and older. |
